Ingredients
4cupswater or broth
4cupsdry macaroni pasta
4tbspbutter divided: 1 tablespoon before cooking and 3 after when making the sauce
1tspsalt
1/2tsponion powder
1/4tspdry mustard powder
1tsphot sauceoptional, adds more punch
3cupsof shredded cheese of choiceYummy options: cheddar, monterey jack, swiss, gruyere, fontina. Best to shred your own!
1/4-1/2cupwhole milkFor thinning the sauce
Instructions
Add the pasta, water, 1 tbsp butter, salt, onion powder, dry mustard, and hot sauce to the instant pot. Close the lid, seal, and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
Manually release the pressure to remove steam and open the lid. Give the pasta a stir and add in 3 tbsp butter. While stirring, add in the 3 cups of shredded cheese and just keep stirring vigorously as it melts into a sauce. Slowly add in milk as needed until you reach the desired consistency.
